
Trainer Paul Nicholls is responsible for the top two in the weights for this year’s Coral Scottish Grand National on Saturday April 12, with the 10 year-old Threeunderthrufive allocated top-weight of 12-0 and Aintree contender Kandoo Kid rated 3lbs lower on 11-11.
Top-rated of the 13 Willie Mullins entries is Kilcruit on 11-10 with the trainer’s 2024 winner Macdermott on 11-1 this time around and last year’s runner-up Surrey Quest (Toby Lawes) on 10-12.
Lucinda’ Russell’s two entries, Apple Away and Whistle Stop Tour, have been allocated 10-11 and 10-9 respectively while last year’s 3rd placed horse Git Maker will carry 10-6 if trainer Jamie Snowden elects to try and reverse the form with last year’s first and second.
The current field of 60 will be reduced at 6-day declaration time on Monday April 7 with final declarations being made known on Thursday April 10.
Thee weights for this year’s £100,000 Scottish Champion Hurdle are topped by the Willie MUllins trained Kargesse on 11-12 ahead of two other Mullins entries, Absurde (11-11) and Gauchen (11-10).
Nicky Henderson’s smart mare Joyeuse has been allocated 11-5 with Ewan Whillans’ dual Kelso Morebattle Hurdle winner Cracking Rhapsody allocated 11-0.
This year’s Coral Scottish Grand National Festival will be staged on Friday April 11 and Saturday April 12 with coverage of Saturday’s main races live on ITV Racing.
