The draw for stalls positions in this year’s Virgin Bet Ayr Gold Cup will be made on the morning of Thursday September 21 by newly retired Scotland rugby legend Stuart Hogg.
The former fly-half and full-back had hoped to retire AFTER the current Rugby World Cup being played in France but he was forced to end his playing career early due to injury.
31 year-old Hogg has a real passion for horse-racing and is a hands-on current owner with Hawick trainer Ewan Whillans.
The former Glasgow Warriors and Exeter Chiefs star is Scotland’s all-time leading try-scorer, and earned 100 caps as he chalked up 171 points in total for the national side.
Gregor Townsend’s current players will be contesting their next Pool B match against Tonga the day after the Gold Cup on Sunday September 24.
The draw for the 25-runner Virgin Bet Ayr Gold Cup will take place at Ayr Racecourse and will be covered live on Racing TV at 11am.
